Bill Link, PhD, Joins LENSAR as Board Chairman

LENSAR announced Nov. 8 that Bill Link, PhD, has joined the company’s board of directors as its chairman.

Orlando-based LENSAR, a subsidiary of PDL BioPharma, markets the LENSAR Laser System for femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.

Link is a co-founder and a managing director of Versant Ventures, which invests in early-stage medical devices.

Link also founded and served as president of American Medical Optics, a division of American Hospital Supply Corp., which was sold to Allergan in 1986. He served on the board of the division’s successor company, Advanced Medical Optics, which was acquired by Abbott in 2009. Link currently serves on the boards of Glaukos and Second Sight, as well as several other companies.
