Novartis Reports Q2-2018 Net Sales of $13.2 billion, Up 5 Percent

Novartis’ total net sales in Q2-2018 were $13.2 billion (+7 percent, +5 percent cc), as volume growth in its Innovative Medicines division, was partly offset by pricing and generic competition, the Swiss company reported July 18.

Net sales for all ophthalmology products totaled $1.18 billion, a drop of 3 percent (cc) year over year, Novartis said.

Lucentis’ sales outside the US totaled $515 million (+4 percent), with solid growth in Europe and emerging markets, including China.

Travoprost Group sales were $134 million, a 7 percent decline over Q2-017, mainly due to generic competition in Europe.

Topical Olopatadine Group sales were $58 million, a drop of 25 percent, largely the result of generic competition for Pataday in the US, Novartis said.
