September 1, 2017: By Joan McKenna

Quest Products Blue Guard BoxQuest Products announced Aug. 17 that it has launched Blue Guard Blue Light Defense Formula, a daily supplement intended to combat the harmful effects of blue light, the type of illumination given off by electronic screens, by strengthening the density of the macular pigment.

Quest, of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, said its over-the-counter product is designed to defend against eye strain and visual fatigue, which can lead to decreased productivity, decreased ability to focus, increased stress, and lack of sleep.

The active ingredient is Lutemax 2020, a marigold extract that includes lutein and zeaxanthin, carotenoids that are increasingly being included in eye health supplements.
