Haag-Streit Accepting Submissions for Third Annual Slit Lamp Imaging Competition
Author: Joan McKenna
Haag-Streit’s Slit Lamp Imaging Competition allows eye care
professionals to showcase their imaging skills.
The global competition is open to eye care professionals who want to showcase their imaging skills.
Haag-Streit clarified for Market Scope that images from all devices are eligible; the competition is not limited to slit lamp images taken with Haag-Streit devices.
The closing date for entries is July 31, 2021.
The ultimate prize seems to be bragging rights, but there are physical prizes for the top three winners: a Fujifilm X-T4 Camera Kit 16-80 mm for first place; a carbon tripod from Peak Design for second place; and a leather camera bag from ONA for third place.
The winning images also will be featured in various places, such as Haag-Streit’s website and virtual booth.
Entrants are limited to four submitted images and must meet the technical specifications: a minimum image size of 1,600 by 1,200 pixels at 300 dpi; maximum email size of 30 MB per email (send more than one email if necessary); JPEG or PNG format; preferred 4:3 ratio; and minimal post-processing, which should not alter the clinical aspects of the image.
Also note that contestants must agree to grant Haag-Streit worldwide and unlimited rights to use the images free of charge in any manner without limitation, even if they are not the winning entries. Entrants will be credited with taking the photo.
The competition is relatively new, but appreciation of ophthalmic photography as a profession has been around for decades.
The nonprofit Ophthalmic Photographers' Society, dedicated to medical photography in ophthalmology, was formed in 1969. Its main objectives are to provide primary and continuing education in the field of ophthalmic photography, to set and maintain standards for the profession through multiple certification programs, and to promote scientific advancement in ophthalmic imaging technology.
The society publishes a journal full of stunning ophthalmic diagnostic images that are as much art as science.
