TECNIS Synergy
Johnson & Johnson Vision announced June 14 the availability of its TECNIS Synergy and TECNIS Synergy Toric II lenses in the US and Canada.
Both lenses gained US approval in April, and the Synergy Toric II gained approval in Canada the same month. The Synergy standard lens had been approved earlier in Canada.
The Synergy is a next-generation presbyopia-correcting intraocular lens (PC-IOL) designed to offer continuous vision for cataract patients across every distance, regardless of lighting conditions.
A company-sponsored study found that nine out of 10 patients who received the Synergy did not need glasses after surgery.
J&J Vision, whose surgical unit is based in Santa Ana, California, first launched the Synergy in 2019 in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. The IOL also is available in Latin America.
The company said it plans to showcase the Synergy at the annual meeting of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery in July in Las Vegas.
