AcuFocus Gains US FDA Approval for IC-8 Apthera Small Aperture Lens

AcuFocus announced July 25 that it had gained US FDA approval for its IC-8 small aperture lens for cataract surgery. In the US, the lens is branded the IC-8 Apthera, while it has been sold in Europe and elsewhere as the IC-8. The Irvine, California, company noted the approval marked a series of firsts, with the Apthera being the first small aperture IOL to achieve the milestone, the first extended depth of focus lens indicated for monovision, and the first non-toric IOL indicated for cataract...
