Trukera Medical Launches New ScoutPro Osmolarity System
Author: Jennie Crabbe
The ScoutPro Osmolarity System combines nanoliter volume sample collection and analysis in a single portable device.
Trukera Medical, formerly TearLab, on Sept. 12 unveiled the ScoutPro Osmolarity System, the first product under the company’s new brand. The ScoutPro is the first portable osmometer in the US, Trukera said.
Trukera CEO Adam Szaronos said hyperosmolarity in tears compromises corneal cell health and drives refractive instability.
The ScoutPro combines nanoliter volume sample collection and analysis in a single portable device, Trukera said. Users can now bring laboratory testing to patients anywhere in the practice for quick, objective results. The test cards are interchangeable with the first-generation TearLab Osmolarity System.
Trukera said the ScoutPro is available for preorder in the US and will be commercially launched at the upcoming World Cornea Congress and the American Academy of Ophthalmology meeting later this month.
The company’s new website, trukera.com, said it would continue to support customers who use its flagship TearLab system. The company has moved its corporate headquarters to Southlake, Texas, but operations and technical services remain in Escondido, California.
