Carl Zeiss Meditec’s VisuMax 800 and SMILE Software Gain US FDA Approval

Carl Zeiss Meditec reported Jan. 11 that the US FDA had approved its updated VisuMax 800 femtosecond refractive laser and related SMILE software for surgically treating nearsightedness with or without astigmatism. The next-generation system is designed to perform lenticule extraction, which Zeiss refers to as SMILE with its system.
