Oculus has announced the addition of frequency doubling perimetry (FDP) to its Easyfield VR visual field diagnostic headset, along with standard automated perimetry.
The German ophthalmic diagnostic company, with US headquarters in Arlington, Washington, said FDP enables practitioners to identify and assess visual field loss more accurately, leading to earlier and more effective intervention for patients, particularly in the early stages of glaucoma.
Standard automated perimetry quantifies the extent and pattern of visual field loss, providing data for monitoring disease progression. Oculus said doctors can easily upgrade to the dual configuration as their practice needs evolve.
The Easyfield VR can operate in a fully lit room without requiring an internet connection, a feature that Oculus says streamlines practice operations and helps reduce scheduling backlogs associated with traditional perimeters.
