Zeiss Begins Broad US Rollout of Micor 700 for Phaco-less Cataract Surgery

Zeiss Medical Technology reported Sept. 26 that it had begun broad US distribution of the Micor 700, the first hand-held device to extract a crystalline lens in cataract surgery without the need for ultrasonic phacoemulsification to break up the lens. The German company, with US headquarters in Dublin, California, has named the procedure NULEX, for non-ultrasonic lens extraction. It is designed to deliver less thermal energy than phaco, minimizing the risk of thermal damage to ocular tissue. ...
