Norlase says the Lynx is the world's first laser indirect ophthalmoscope with integrated pattern scanning capabilities for photocoagulation.
Norlase announced Jan. 27 the commercial launch of the Lynx, which the company says is the world’s first laser indirect ophthalmoscope with integrated pattern scanning capabilities for photocoagulation.
The Danish company, with US offices in Redwood City, California, said the laser system had received US FDA 510(k) clearance and CE marking in Europe.
The Lynx is battery-powered for portability and treatment flexibility, with the laser incorporated into a headset. The device features a full pattern palette, with 2x2 to 5x5 grids, triple arcs, and circles. The intuitive wireless user interface and multilingual voice control allows retina surgeons to streamline their treatment flow, Norlase said.
Norlase also markets the Echo green pattern laser photocoagulator, which provides laser, scanner, and delivery functionality in one housing and can be mounted on a slit lamp; the ultracompact Leaf laser photocoagulator; and the Lion, a green laser photocoagulator fully integrated into the headset of a Keeler indirect ophthalmoscope.
